RESORTS
Hervey Bay , a rapidly expanding city of 40,000 people, situated in sub tropical Queensland, is one of Australia's favourite holiday destinations.
With a great
climate and wonderful calm water beaches ideal for swimming all year round , it
is a well known aquatic playground.
Whatever your needs may be :
- water sports
- tours of adjacent world heritage Fraser Island,
- fishing trips,
- coral viewing trips,
- diving,
- scenic flights,
- whale watching (August to October),
- or just relaxing,
Hervey Bay is ideally situated to provide these services.
|
In recent years, the region has
become famous as the playground of
the majestic Humpback Whales on
their return to the Antarctic. From
August to October, the whales frolic
in the warm sheltered waters of the
bay, putting on a spectacular display
for their admirers.
Celebrating the return of the
Humpback Whales each year,
Hervey Bay stages a Whale Festival
for two weeks in August. An aquatic
carnival, including an illuminated
procession of floats, is the highlight
of this fun-filled fortnight.
But there is much more to Hervey
Bay, with its many attractions
centring around its safe and
sheltered waters and golden beaches.
There are a number of attractions in and around Hervey Bay to enjoy such as Natureworld wildlife
park, Neptune's Aquarium, Hervey Bay Historical Museum and the Botanical Gardens. There is
also a wide selection of good value accommodation to choose from including caravan parks,
backpacker hostels, motels, units and resorts.

Would you like a map of
Fraser Island?
Fraser Island - the largest sand island in the world.
Just a taste of this World Heritage Listed paradise will leave you feeling
charmed and captivated. Spanning 124 kilometres and covering an area of
163 000 hectares, Fraser Island has developed over 800 000 years.
An exceptional range of flora is found on the Island. Cool and peaceful
rainforests of towering
Satinay and Brush Box trees, some over 1000 years old, contrast with
swampy wetlands, heathlands full of wild flowers and coastal stands of Pandanus palms.
Fraser Islands home to a range of animals.
Visitors can expect to see some of the 325 species of birds, several species of wallaby, possums,
flying foxes, echidnas and Eastern Australia’s purest breed of
dingo. The warm waters surrounding the Island attract dugong, dolphins and turtles. |
